CHAPTER 18
Quinn
“H ow do pants feel in waist?” asked my silver-haired Korean seamstress who had a thick accent and spoke in broken English. She was on her knees behind me, placing pins at the bottom of my slacks.
“I can’t believe I’ve lost so much weight. I’ve gone from a forty-two-inch waistline down to a thirty-six-inch waist,” I said, as if she really cared about my transformation.
“You look very nice. Handsome. Girls be all over you in new expensive suits you about to buy.”
I snickered loudly. I loved the idea of being irresistible to women. I’d never experienced that before, but that was all about to change, thanks to Calvin. I didn’t know how I’d ever repay him for the gift he’d given me. Even if it would be short-lived, I was going to enjoy every minute of it for as long as it lasted.
“Someone must like you very much. They spend lot of money on Armani suits for you,” said the Korean woman as she rose to her feet, stepped around in front of me and asked me to extend my arms out to form the letter “T.”
“The suits are a gift from a family member,” I explained.
“What you do? Give kidney?” She was clearly being nosy.
“No,” I answered. “It’s just a gift.”
“Seven Armani suits. Very expensive gift,” she said, continuing to pry.
“I know,” I answered as she finished up her measurements. As promised, Calvin hooked me up with his tailor who made all of his suits. Since he stood 6’7”, it wasn’t easy for him to go to Sears and buy off of the rack. All of his clothes were custom-made. Calvin was feeling extra generous and told me that he’d cover the cost of the new suits for my new look. That way I wouldn’t have to spend the money he’d previously given me to live out my fantasy on new threads. He’d selflessly given me twenty thousand dollars to play with. To me it was a boatload of cash, but to him it was nothing, especially since each of his restaurants made thirty-five thousand a week on average. I used seven thousand dollars of the money he’d given me to buy a red and black Chevy Camaro that had come into the dealership.
The owner, Big Sam, wanted ten thousand dollars for the used car. After I had it inspected for any potential mechanical problems, I made Big Sam an offer his greedy ass wouldn’t refuse. That left me with thirteen thousand dollars in cold hard cash to blow on my once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
“Suits will be ready in three days,” said the seamstress as I walked back into the changing room to put my street clothes back on.
I stepped out into the bright sunlight and smiled at my new ride, which was glistening. The black rubber on the tires looked as if it was wet and the tinted windows made my baby look smoking hot. I’d even given my wheels a sexy name. I called her Silky.
I walked over to Silky, opened the door and ducked inside.
